Hello fellow Rosarians. One of the joys of gardening is sharing it with others and I am so glad that I get to share my garden with you!
I am by no means an "expert" on all rose topics, but I have been gardening for over 30 years. I am a Master Gardener, a Consulting Rosarian, and consider myself an expert on my own garden.
We live on the Potomac River in Southern Maryland (zone 7b) and you may notice that my garden isn't picture perfect. We have high humidity causing black spot and usually have sawfly damage. My hope is to share what a realistic organic garden looks like without a team of people maintaining it.
If you are new to roses, please check out the video "Best Rose Rootstock for your Zone". This video will help you understand own root, grafted, bare root and potted roses and the vendors that offer each. Then check out the associated unboxing vendor videos so that you know what to expect from each rose type and vendor.
Thank you for watching and subscribing!

I also want to come to your country to work... to work in the garden
It is a lovely rose and the scent is underrated. The only drawback is the bloom does not last. As soon as it fully opens, the petals start dropping.
40 seconds into the video there are very light grayish green trees above green bushes. If anyone knows what they are please reply.
Dappled Willow!
The specific cultivar is Hakuro Nishiki. New growth is green, light pink and white then it transitions to green and white.
Thank you for this nice reply. It just has to be a pest, a fungus, something. I’ve never seen anything like it. I will take your advice and keep you posted
Looking forward to hearing from you!
Where i worked at a DIY store .. from the garden centre dept. a dead rose kept appearing at the checkouts.. time & time again..i put the person off with a great risk of getting a written notice or get kicked out.. i couldn’t possibly believe that people can’t tell by just looking & not scratching the surface… that it’s dead..i couldn’t chuck it in the bin..u hand it over to be written off.. it goes back to the garden centre.. nobody cared to write it off
Wow! I assumed they threw them away. Thank you for sharing!
This is a beautiful formal garden! Incredible plant design for each room and water features. Espalier fruit trees. The garden is of Museum quality!!!
I agree! I want to be Yvonne when I grow up!
This video has been very helpful. Thank you. How would I go about ordering a rose from Don? I am very new at propagating but love the process. I have Lupus and am in a lot of pain almost all the time. Roses take my mind off the pain. Our home burned a little over a year ago and I am trying to get my new yard to the place where I can enjoy it. Thank you both for sharing this wonderful knowledge.❤
I am so sorry for your Lupus and the house burning. That must be a lot for you to process with the house and your health. To order from Don, go to www.areverenceforroses.com/ Sending wishes for health and blooms!
Wow! Beautiful rose garden! Thanks for sharing
Thanks for visiting Katy's garden with me!
Thanks for this review. Considering a band rose from Rogue.
They have so many nice varieties. If you do buy one, pot it up into a slightly larger size. Once the roots fill the pot, move it to a one gallon. After the roots fill the pot, you can put them in the ground. Happy shopping!
OMG you have money.
I would say the opposite.. :) I am house poor. :)
❤❤❤❤beautiful & serene garden
Thanks for visiting Yvonne's Garden with me!
How are your roses in the terrible heatwave now?
Absolutely Divine ❤️ so inspirational
I agree. I get so much inspiration from Yvonne.
I don't know what is wrong with my beds. I definitely have die back. It's 100 degrees here in South Texas. Pruning this hard may be deadly. I don't know. I grew over 100 bushes at one time and have never seen this. I think I should treat the bed itself. I have seen a lot of webbing and some sort of bug or spider. I don't have spider mites, I know what they look like. Do you have any suggestions? My whole bed looks terrible.
I am so sorry to hear this and understand your frustration. I want to break this into a few parts. First, I don't think there is anything that you are doing wrong. 100 degrees is tough for any rose. Second, let's talk about the bug webbing. I would like for you to consider defoliating any leaves that seems to have bugs/spiders/etc. Then, first thing in the morning after the sun rises or very late in the day at sunset, consider using Bonide Neem or Horticultural oil. I would spray the entire rose down including the undersides of the leaves and the soil beneath and around the roses. This will suppress anything your roses have going on. The defoliated leaves will come back rather quickly with the heat (7 days or so). Finally, let's talk about the water/soil. Use a water meter and check the soil close to the roots. Make sure that it is halfway between "wet" and "dry". Check each day and watch it try down to "dry". Once it hits dry, water them again until the meter reads "wet". Keep watching the dry down cycle to make sure they don't stay "dry" for too long. In addition to watching the soil moisture, consider spraying the rose down, leaves and canes, each morning before the sun rises. I agree with you that when they are stressed from the heat and dry weather, the focus is on hydration rather than any pruning. Once they are looking better, then take a look at cutting any die back. Make sure to sanitize your pruners between each cut. All the best Rose Bud. Keep me posted.
Great video. I used to try in the past with no success. Now i have worked out how to do it. If you dont have Root Hormone just dip into cinnamon powder and honey. Also make a hole in the soil with a pencil and then place your cuttings in the holes. As I am in Australia and it is winter I have cut the bottom of 3 litre plastic milk containers and leave the lid on and place over the cuttings in the soil for humidity and protection. Water the soil before you place the cuttings in. 90% of my cuttings rooted after 6 weeks.
How often did you water the cuttings? If so do you have to open the lid and water from the top?
Excellent! Thank you for sharing your method. I might have to try this!
This is awesome! I've been looking for one at the stores and couldn't find the right size. Now I can make one. Thanks so much for sharing!
You are welcome! I love mine and leave them out year round. Have fun!
I have never seen anything so beautiful and maintained so well.

Did the clematis make it now that it is 2 years later. I just bought mine a few weeks ago and mine was 3.5 inch pots as well but the roots was well established.
Yes. The Clematis have done really well!

Most beautiful garden i had ever seen.ty for sharing
You are welcome. Stay tuned for part 2.
I have watched this over and over and over. I think I'm addicted! This garden is absolutely heavenly. It must bring Yvonne such joy, both in having so beautifully designed and maintained the garden and in sharing it with so many of us through your wonderful channel, Kimberley. It is interesting to see the little tweaks and changes since last time: new hedges near the rose allee, espaliers, new garden ornaments. The amazing growth and floral abundance is fabulous! It all fills my soul with happiness! Thank you both so much.❤ from Australia
Thank you! You’re so observant😊. It does bring me a lot of joy.
I am so glad it brings your soul happiness! It brings me so much joy also to see what Yvonne has created. Thank you for watching from Australia!
The double row of trees through the new blue arch is intriguing! Is this your front garden? I bet it’s just as gorgeous as the back.😊🥀
@@martinemaud3635 Thank you. It is actually the side garden.
Where is this
This is in Virginia in zone 7b!
Good morning Kim I purchased this rose also but I thought it was supposed to be a climber and the rose was supposed to be more like Wellington old Hall round by any chance do you know if there’s two different ones called William Morris?
There is only one William Morris according to Help Me Find. Check this link before for more information. www.helpmefind.com/gardening/l.php?l=2.18151 A climber you may be interested in is St. Swithun.
I have gone through all the internet to find a solution. I live in Iran, I saw those beetles last year for the first time. They are black & white & some are yellow & black. It’s not Japanese beetles. I haven’t yet found which variety they are. They are a little bigger. This year unfortunately, they multiplied They are over my raspberries & wow, 😢. They liked my dahlias as well & roses. Today I used an insecticide ( not organic) & honestly it worked. They died! I picked them & put them in a bucket. I was afraid they might come back to life. The degree of devastation is beyond repair this year. Obviously, going through the internet, looks like I need to get rid of the larvae for next year.
I used Milky Spore this year and saw an immediate reduction in the adults. Do you have Milky Spore available to you?

I used the granular Milky Spore. You treat quarterly for two years and then have protection for at least ten years. I hope you are able to find a similar product.
Hi. Does your Leander repeat bloom? I have an 11 year old climbing Leander growing over an arch and I have never gotten a second flush. I'm in Maryland 7b, too! I'm considering the daunting task of digging the rose out and putting another Abraham Darby, which is doing well and in constant bloom, on the other side of the arch.
Mine is a one time bloomer also. I agree, it is a tough call to make when you remove a rose. Hopefully you are able to find another place to plant her. If not, consider shipping her to a small business (High Country Roses, Northland Rosarium, A Reverence for Roses) so that they can use her as a mother. She is a hard one to find. :)
This garden is so beautiful! There is a lot of hard work to keep the hedges looking perfect. Love to see many flowers to attract pollinators. Reminds me of Monet's garden in Giverny.
What a wonderful compliment. Yvonne has certainly created one of the most beautiful gardens in history.
That was definitely Yvonne's super beautiful, relaxing and amazing garden. Thanks for sharing
Yes it was! Thank you so much for subscribing! Stay tuned for part 21
Gosh, this just needs an applause, standing ovation!!!!
I agree! Thank you for watching.
Absolutely beautiful !
It really is!
How do you sanitize your tools in between each rose? What do you use? Spray? Clorox wipe? Wd40?
I use a small paint bucket filled with 70% alcohol. ruclips.net/video/U0KDjPCJyMY/видео.html
😊
Have a great weekend Lidia!
👍😊💜🌹🌳
